Gladys Mae Toms, 99, formerly of Marion, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Providence Place. She was born January 19, 1918 near Waynesboro, the daughter of the late Ray R. Sr and Etta (Oberholzer) Toms.
She graduated from Hooverville High School. After graduation, she went to work at the Employment Office in Chambersburg for over 50 years. Gladys enjoyed crocheting and spent many pleasurable hours making afghans. She also loved, and excelled at, crossword puzzles. Surviving are: three sisters: Marie Wishard of Waynesboro, Mary Hissong of St. Thomas, Martha Barnhart of Chambersburg; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: six brothers: Howard, Russell, Paul, Ray Jr, Richard, and Charles Toms; five sisters: Hazel Daugherty, Ruth Ressler, Isabelle Henicle, Janet Decker, Catherine Fahrney; and Gladys' companion of many years, Earl Harbaugh. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the W.F. Sellers Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
