Obituary for Diana Suarez

With heavy hearts we share the news of our mother’s passing. Diana “Di” Kay Suarez (Zimmerman), surrendered her soul into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, December 19. Born March 8, 1946, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jean Brown (Zimmerman). Diana worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for over 25 years. “Miss Di” then dedicated her remaining working years to the children at Scotland School For Veterans children from which she retired when the school closed in 2009. Diana was very proud of her roots and truly loved the Chambersburg area and the people in it. She was a 1964 graduate of CASHS and still wore her school colors proudly. She spent many years working with local booster clubs, and gained a lot of family in doing so. Her grandson is sure she would tell you to expect a huge turnaround in Trojan football now that she has a bit more pull. Diana was member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, several unions and boards and an advocator for equal rights. It would be hard to find a mother and grandmother more prideful than Diana, “Nana”. She was her family’s number one supporter - and defender. Nana cheered (and whistled) louder than anyone else for them, even if it wasn’t called for. Family and friends were the center of her world. She enjoyed conversation, sharing stories, watching “her soaps”, going on lunch dates, trips to the ocean, and her Steelers. Diana is survived in death by; daughter Daphne Frank of Va, daughter Misty Banzhoff and Husband James of Pa, her granddaughter Brelyn Guyer of CA, son Rodney Frank II and his wife Tamara of Md, grandsons Rodney and Travis Frank, daughter Yonne Suarez Snavely and husband Joseph of Chambersburg, granddaughter Joselyn and grandson Deakon Snavely, daughter Sophia Suarez and partner Douglas Gayman of Chambersburg, granddaughter Lily Nolan and grandsons Kyle Nolan and Hunter Gayman, brother Allen Zimmerman and wife Deanna of Chambersburg, Kevin Brown and wife Kelly of Va, Sean Brown of Md, five nieces and two nephews. Diana was preceded in death by her mother Sarah J. Brown, brother Ricky L. Zimmerman, and grandson Dylan Guyer. Our mother had a fire about her that was undeniable. She has made an everlasting impact on the people she’s left behind. Please do not mourn for her loss but rejoice in knowing that she is once again the carefree, fun loving woman we were all blessed to know and love. ~ Y&S
