David "Dave" McIntyre was called home and slipped away in his sleep on September 9, 2016. He was 50 years old. He was a quiet man who was slow to anger and who found great peace in solitude. A native of Franklin County, he enjoyed the outdoors and life's simple pleasures, whether it was canoeing on the Shenandoah with a fishing rod in his hand, hiking the mountains, or simply throwing horseshoes with his neighbors. Fall was his favorite season by far and he appreciated the changing of the colors.
Dave loved his family and spoiled his wife with small acts of caring. He spent many happy hours at home with her and his grandbabies. He was respected as a man of his word and friends and family knew him as someone to depend on whenever his help was needed. All will miss his dry sense of humor and snappy comebacks.
Dave served as a mortarman in the U.S. Marine Corps and did overseas duty in Japan and the Philippines. He was a dedicated employee who loved his work as a fork lift driver and trainer.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 17 years, Sue (Clugston) McIntyre, children and step-children, grandchildren, step-mother and sisters. He was preceded in death by his father and brother.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016, at World Harvest Outreach, 1090 Wayne Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. The service will begin with military honors. Friends are invited to join the family for fellowship and a light meal following the service.
